The struggle and profound challenges I’ve faced on my journey to becoming and practicing as a doctor have fueled a deep commitment to restore medicine to the sacred, healing profession it was always meant to be. Early on, as a medical student in the UK, I encountered harsh realities, not just of medicine, but life itself. Fellow medical students struggling with depression and thoughts of suicide reached out to me, knowing I was in a position to help. However, speaking out on their behalf came with severe consequences that shook me to my core. Yet, even as the path grew uncertain, I held on to my dream, which ultimately led me to a deeper faith, resilience and purpose: a dedication to alleviate human suffering.

“Wherever the art of Medicine is loved, there is also a love of Humanity.” – Hippocrates

Malta offering me a second chance has filled me with a profound sense of gratitude I live with every day. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of learning directly under some of the most respected doctors in Malta across multiple specialties, and, perhaps most importantly, connecting deeply with a significant number of people from all walks of life. I have come to realise that true learning is not just in the scientific papers or books I read daily, nor in the conferences I attend or complex cases I discuss, but also through deep listening, respect, and curiosity toward the story of every patient and person I meet. Every person knows something you don’t.

Throughout my life, standing up for what is right, challenging the status quo, and thinking outside the box, even at personal cost, has been central to who I am. This commitment has led me to embrace both the strengths and limitations of modern medicine. I realised that to drive meaningful change, one of the most effective ways is to work within the system itself. Therefore, to create a practice that truly addresses the whole person, immediately after graduating in medicine and whilst practicing as a doctor, I pursued qualifications in two of the world’s most ancient healing systems still widely practiced today: Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Integrating Ancient Wisdom with Modern Medicine

Combining Western Medicine with Ayurvedic Medicine and Chinese Medicine has become the foundation of my approach, enabling me to blend the latest medical advancements with the time-tested wisdom of holistic healing systems to address the whole person; mind, body, and spirit. Now, as a holistic doctor I am commonly approached by patients with complex, chronic conditions; who have consulted multiple specialists without finding satisfactory answers. However, with these patients, I believe I have developed a multidimensional understanding of health that can provide a more powerful, well-rounded approach as a result of intensive daily study of modern medical science, combined with the scientific research and unique philosophies of Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicine.

Seeing the results of patients myself has further confirmed that truly effective healthcare isn’t about rushed appointments or quick fixes; it’s about walking alongside patients on their unique paths to recovery, well-being, freedom  and lasting fulfilment. I don’t think anything can be more fulfilling than helping to transform a fellow human being’s suffering, in the same way Malta has done for me. However I believe such an approach comes with great responsibility. Sometimes a simple solution is the best choice and I strive to keep the spirit of true ancient healing philosophies by doing my best in the current system to make quality health care accessible and ethically grounded; transparently helping patients to understand all of their options to empower them on their unique healing journey.
